A midweight 250 Merino-X knit — 18.5 micron wool in a high-loft interlock, which is the construction that traps air rather than just laying flat against you. Heavier than the Wick and meant for it: this is the layer for sitting still in cold weather, or the one that becomes your shirt when the day warms up. Thumb loops keep the sleeves down when a jacket goes over the top. Specter is the camo option, for when the base layer ends up being the outer layer.
