CRC

Brakleen Non-Chlorinated Brake Parts Cleaner, 14 oz, 4 Pack

$20.36

What actually cleans a gun. A can of non-chlorinated brake cleaner strips the carbon and old oil off a 2011 faster than anything sold as gun cleaner, at a quarter of the price.

CRC's Brakleen, the non-chlorinated version, model 05050. It's an automotive degreaser: the PowerJet spray blasts grease, oil and grime off metal and flashes off fast with no residue, which is exactly the job between the pins and rails of a match gun after a few thousand rounds. Non-chlorinated is the one to buy. The chlorinated formula is a harsher solvent that attacks polymer, finishes and grips, and worse, the chlorinated solvents break down into phosgene gas if they meet the heat of a torch, a hot barrel or a cigarette. The non-chlorinated can is legal in all fifty states at under 10% VOC and is what belongs in a range bag. Spray the metal, let it dry, oil it again; keep it off the optic's glass and anything painted or polymer you care about, and use it outside. Four 14-ounce cans, shipped as hazmat, so not returnable.
