A Montana Knife Company Whitetail standing point down: a tan Buck Skin composite handle on two silver screws above a stonewashed drop-point blade marked MKC USA MADE.

Montana Knife Company

The Whitetail, Buck Skin

Montana

$315

The deer knife. A four-inch drop point with enough belly to skin, gut, bone and break down a whole animal without swapping tools.

MKC built this one because people kept asking for a dedicated whitetail blade, and the shape is the answer: their classic drop point with more belly rolled into it, which is what lets one knife skin, gut, bone out and process without reaching for a second. Four-inch blade on an 8 5/8 inch knife, 0.135 thick, 4.49 ounces — short enough to work inside a deer in a tight spot, long enough that it is not overmatched by an elk or a moose. Stonewashed MagnaCut, the stainless that holds an edge through a whole animal and shrugs off blood and wet. Full tang, composite handle; Buck Skin is the tan. It ships with MKC's Kydex Open Carry Sheath 2.0, which has a retention screw so you can set the tension yourself and a clip that takes a belt or a pack either way up. MKC's Generations promise covers sharpening for life. The knife on the Dove Hunting shelf is the small bird version of the same idea.
